'' Sex...Such a strange title to your piece. '' Sexual Abuse versus Physical Abuse.'' I almost expect Harry Hill to appear saying, '' Sexual Abuse or Physical Abuse. Which is worse?' and for a giant penis and a claw hammer to enter the screen and battle it out for superiority!
You're pretty much stating the obvious that perpetual victimhood does no one any favours but the whole point is that for many children who suffer from any sort of abuse the capability of logical thought and reasoning is lost forever. There are some hardy souls who can see beyond it but for many of the more sensitive , normal life just remains a dream. On a cruelty scale, I would rate forced indoctrination at the top of the list, it is designed to make the victim, a victim all their lives. It gives them a warped set of values where they have no sense of what is right or wrong, it takes away free will.

The Institutions were run on fear, the children were kept in a state of perpetual terror, deliberately, it gave the predators the authority they needed to do whatever they wanted with their victims. They had the backing of the authorities, we were the kids of the underserving poor, they were turning us into 'better' people.

You are looking at the individual cases WJ, I am looking at the bigger picture. We know the physical and sexual abuse went on - childrens' homes were rich pickings for sadists and perverts who wanted access to vulnerable children, with no repercussions.

The individuals are fighting an ideology, and the authorities are obliging them, because as long as the blame is laid at the door of the lone predators, the church and the authorities who had overall responsibility for us, are off the hook.

The CSA Survivors are caught up in a very cruel political game. The Witchfinder Generals don't give two hoots about their wellbeing, they need victims to point the finger so the trials can begin.

Rosalinda Huttonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01497239700092619580noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-834822786084044829.post-74240114150167557542016-02-10T14:24:49.564+00:002016-02-10T14:24:49.564+00:00"credibility" ....hmmm.... is that impor..."credibility" ....hmmm.... is that important? To whom, and why?

Surely your ...."credibility as a CSA survivor is somewhat diminished" ...I would have thought, by the fact that you seem to deny that your childhood sexual experiences were in fact "abuse". Therefore you seem to class yourself as a sexual experience survivor.

Surely I am missing something here?
If so please help me out.

I take on board your repeated message that wallowing endlessly in "victimhood" is not conducive to recovery and getting on with you life. Fine, that's pretty obvious

You, indeed anyone, has the right to (respectfully) give their opinion on CSA, or any other matter
FWIW I would class the low level sexual experiences you had as CSA.
Just because you (or whoever) were sexually abused does not automatically make you a Victim (with a capital V)
Someone can endure ....or fight off .....or survive a sexual attack OR approach without necessarily being a Victim.

Perhaps I am being a bit simple but I would consider any sexual activity between an adult and a child (or teen with person significantly younger/weaker) as abuse, whether it is consensual or not. Obviously the severity is on a (multi-dimensional) spectrum but it it is not OK and you would not want it happening to a sibling, friend or even child of your own, then it could or should be classed as "abuse"
Whether it is pleasant or unpleasant it can still class as abuse.

Surely you cannot class yourself ans a cs"A" survivor UNLESS you class what happened to you as "abuse" ("A"buse)

Your mum's boyfriend putting fingers on or in you IS (imho) abuse, whether it is done by force or by persuasion. I don't know why you seem to claim otherwise.

Anyways, well done for surviving all the things which happened in or out of that convent. The Wheels come off the Jersey cover uphttp://voiceforchildren.blogspot.co.uk/noreply@blogger.com
