WHY GONCALO AMARAL HAS TO BE THE BAD GUY

Grief sticken parents
Oh to have been a photographer in PDL when the call went out for pictures of the grief stricken parents and cops behaving badly.  One of the most fascinating aspects of this case is watching the way in which the publicity campaigns have been orchestrated and the public manipulated in order to make the lie become the truth.

From the off the parents were portrayed as clean living, God fearing catholics who had never done anything wrong in their entire lives.  Kate and Gerry turned immediately to the church and thus got on board millions the world over who already believe in unseen entities and the word of the Lord - they were always going to struggle with the athiests.

Bad Cop
At the height of their campaign they went to see the Pope, lit candles and begged the world to pray with them.  Not only had they lost their daughter but they were the victims of a scruffy, hard drinking cop who just wanted to wrap the case up quickly so he could get back to his wine and women.

And it was a phenomenal success, one wonders how much of the Madeleine Fund was used to pay photographers for pictures of Portuguese detectives looking crumpled and K&G looked martyred, but impeccably dressed.

The critics of Goncalo Amaral are obviously unfamiliar with the writing premise of almost every, strike that, every, fictional detective book/film/tv series etc. That is, renegade cop (with human failings) pursues clean cut rule following pillars of the community. Cops have strict rules and regulations to abide by, but we all cheer them on when they break them to catch the baddy.

The most successful hero cops, are usually flawed in some way (it creates empathy with the audience), that is, they are alcoholic, workaholic, emotional wrecks who have troubled home lives, but they never give up.

The fiction is based on fact. Its not the box ticking, clean cut, rule following automatons who solve the crimes, it is those who break the rules and think outside of the box, who get their man. And in real life, as in fiction, they are usually up against 'the establishment'.

This detective drama is writing itself, Goncalo is the baddy in a crumpled suit with a fondness for wine. His slate isn't clean, he didn't wear a smart uniform with polished shoes and a shiny badge. Whilst his career climbing colleagues were hand pressing their lapels, he was out getting his hands dirty - he's a cop, not a Sunday school teacher.

The real Goncalo, much
loved by his family and friends
I smiled when I read that one of the things that hurt Goncalo was being called a 'bad dresser' - that has a sting like no other, especially when you know the basta'ds are out to get you looking at your worst.  It isn't true of course, it is all part of the 'monster cop' persona the Team McCann propaganda machine have created.  The British press are loathe to interview him because the reality bears no resemblance to the image of him that has been created.

Whilst clean living SS Commandants may be the epitomy of law and order, they are not ideal role models for a successful detective. You can demand the population play nicely and stick to the rules but they rarely do. Only in Steptford and Pleasantville can law enforcement officers perform their duties in their Sunday best. When chasing criminals, hair will fall out of place, clothing may be damaged and shoes may be scuffed. Has a criminal ever 'got off' because the arresting officer was inappropriately dressed?

The accusations being thrown at Goncalo Amaral are everything we expect, so much so, they are almost cliché. Goncalo is probably not very different to every middle aged, hard working cop the world over, His enemies have merely taken his flaws and amplified them.

If GA is the good guy, ergo McCanns are the bad guys. And that will never do. Simples really.

  2. Right from the dawn, it seemed weird and bewildering that the team knew Goncalo had a three-year-old child, a girl, a daughter, just like Madeleine. How did they know so early on? British newspapers reported on it, why?

  4. Perhaps private detectives were hired to investigate PJ officers and dig the dirt on them. Perhaps they were also hired to pressurise OC staff and witnesses rather than look for M. Perhaps holidaymakers were told to send their photos to CEOP not the PJ, where they should have been sent, just in case they'd captured something or someone they shouldn't have. Perhaps the media were told to tail Amaral and get some shots of him eating sardines, drinking wine and looking scruffy, to discredit him.

  5. So you see nothing wrong in a policeman denying a person who is arrested their due legal rights and using violence to obtain a confession?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. There is not even the slightest suggestion that Kate and Gerry McCann were denied their due legal rights or tortured. Within days of Madeleine disappearing, the McCanns were given British Family Liaison officers to look after them throughout the process. In fact Kate and Gerry were surrounded by an entire entourage of family, friends, lawyers, priests, spin doctors, British police and the world's press, throughout their extended holiday in PDL. So what are you trying to say?

Police brutality in other cases, and it is alleged worldwide, is not relevant here because it has never been alleged in this case and it's a bit late now. In citing other cases, you are resting the McCanns' defence on a puff of wind.

The case of Leonor Cipriano is a good example. Her daughter Joana was 'at risk', the authorities were aware that the child was living in a dysfunctional home. Joana was an abused child, God bless her, who suffered throughout her short life. Her mother and uncle were having an incestuous affair and both confessed to her murder, her uncle adding that they had dismembered her body and put it in the freezer.

McCann supporters claim Kate is just like Leonor Cipriano, a grieving mother who's child was stolen, brutalised by the police to confess so they could get back to their lunch of sardines. They claim Joana is a missing child, just like Madeleine, and her mother is the victim of third world injustice.

So strongly did the McCanns empathise with Leonor, they provided her with a new lawyer, one who would assist her in preparing a statement claiming she was tortured into confessing. Unfortunately for Leonor, her false statement added another 7 months onto her prison sentence for perjury, and her lawyer legged it to Brazil.

If I were Kate, I was mortified to be compared to Leonor Cipriano, yet it appears there is no barrel Team McCann will not scrape. If they truly believed Joana was taken by the same 'abductor' as Madeleine, then why have they not used their vast resources to investigate the Cipriano case?

You are using other cases that are of no relevance. I

To those that critical of the way Sr Amaral dresses..I used to be a waitress in a rather posh Restaurant many years ago, and got chatting to a customer that looked rather disheveled,as I got to know him I asked him what he did for a living, he appeared to be a little cagey at first so I let it drop. Some months went by and he asked me for a date which I accepted, as long as he made an effort with his appearance to my surprise he scrubbed up well and we had a great time. It took a while before he told me in confidence that he was working for the Police, and was part of the drug squad! He used to mingle with the lowest of the low, to gather enough information to bring these low-lives to book.

  11. May I remind Miss Hutton that Amaral LOST the libel case and has to pay Gerry and Kate damages. Also, do you honestly believe if Scotland Yard thought they were complicit in their daughter's disappearance they would not have arrested them by now?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Not that simple 13:07, as you well know. The police of Boulder believed the Ramseys were responsible for Jonbenet's death, but they were not arrested. The same could be said of the police in the Lisa Irwin and Isabel Celis cases.

If they take the cases to prosecution and the suspects get off, the cases against them are decimated. Gerry keeps reminding everyone 'there is nooooo evidence', and that is what enables this debacle to continue, imo.

The police have all the time in the world, or so it seems, they are not in rush to bring a prosecution that might not succeed. In this case, I would imagine the evidence bar is pretty high, it must convince a possibly biased jury beyond reasonable doubt.

However, the defence is not sustainable in the long term. Relationships change and/or break down, new allegiances are made and old ones abandoned. No-one within that 'pact' is safe.

Don't you think it is quite reasonable to ask for hard evidence when someone says the Mccanns are guilty of covering up the death of their daughter and disposed of the body?

The rest of your post just proves how much a missing child is such a laugh and fun for you.

The laugh is on you Ros.

    5. The 'HARD' evidence has been discussed in the forums and on the facebook pages for 8 years and some forums and fb pages are discussing the minutiae still.

I, and indeed, many of those who comment on this case have already given in depth explanations as to why we do not believe the McCanns, many, many times, not least, because it is clear in every single interview the parents have given, that they are lying through their teeth!

In 8 years I have never come across a 'pro' argument that convinces me of the parents' innocence, and believe me I have looked! In fact I have recently joined the Madeleine debate group on Facebook so I can speak to 'pros' directly and they can challenge me. Given the choice, I would prefer to believe Kate and Gerry, it would do much to restore my faith in human nature.

Twisting my words, I'm not laughing at the missing child, doesn't persuade me, nor does calling me a prostitute. In fact it makes me all the more suspicious - I'm one of those pesky enemies who doesn't roll over, I fight back.

If it is the McCann family who follow me 24/7 online copying and pasting my every word so their friends on STMs and JATYK2 can point and laugh, then yes I am taking the pee out of them and will continue to do so :)

    1. My family think I am as mad as a hatter 21:24 and the McCann case is a forbidden topic of conversation, alongside Hobbits, The Matrix (especially Parts II and III) and the Hadron Collider - we are a very argumentative family.

I don't persecute the McCann family 21:24, its not in my nature to persecute anybody. 'Persecution' is a very strong adjective 21:24, but the reality is, it can only come from within. If Kate and Gerry are being persecuted, then they are persecuting themselves. If you are in control of your life and happiness you cannot be persecuted. That is, if the words of another person affect you to the extent that you feel persecuted, then you are giving that person way too much power.

The McCanns are always playing from the position of defence, in fact they went into defence mode on the night Madeleine went missing. Unfortunately, as they have no defence, they have attacked their enemies piecemeal, but the expected 'rolling over' didn't happen. The 'examples' they made of their critics reinforced the enemy troops tenfold. The McCanns got too big for their boots.

But returning to the question of persecution. I don't have that power, no one does. Others might have had the power to persecute in the middle ages where being thrown on a bonfire might reasonably be considered persecution, but in the 21st century, very few use sticks and stones which can of course break your bones, but words of course, will never hurt you.

What persecutes the McCanns is their desperate need to silence their critics - something that is not now, and never will be possible. They will continue to be persecuted as long as they believe they have the power to manipulate public opinion. For them, losing is not an option, ergo, they have placed themselves in a continuing cycle of wanting something they can never have, and I agree, it must be hell.

But here's the crunch. It is a hell that they have chosen, they created it themselves and they even chose the wallpaper! They blame everyone else for their failures, and as long as a person does that, they will continue to fail.

Each and every one of us, only has control over our own lives. Once we accept that, we can find inner peace. People like Gerry and Kate believe they can control the thoughts and actions of others, Gerry especially, and it must be driving him demented that he can't. And Kate is doomed to disappointment because she also believes Gerry can do anything. So you see, it has nowt to do with me.

The persecution Kate and Gerry feel is coming from within themselves, we can't make it go away, only they can do that. If they were innocent, and confident in their innocence, they would never have needed a publicity machine to counteract their critics. Truth can usually be backed up with lots of evidence, so where is it in this case?

I could claim persecution if I were to go in full drama queen mode, but I won't. Over the past few days I have had 'prostitute' thrown at me. I was mad as hell initially (I am only human, lol) but a few chants of 'Serenity Now' and I was back on track :) It matters not, that freaky weirdos call me these names, because they are not true! What they are in fact doing, is projecting their own dark (and very creepy) thoughts onto me, and the only place it can come from is their own minds - they don't know me! In using the word 'prostitute' they are in fact revealing their own sicko fantasies.

  23. The little closed hate forum with all of 4 posters placed this on Wed. May 20th at 1338 hrs:

'Is it me or has the rate of progress towards the 25k slowed down dramatically'

fair 'nough - everyone's entitled to an opinion

    HOWEVER

Same poster stating on the same day at 1735 hrs in relation to the fund raising that he does not support 'smelly Untermenschen' (subhumans) - the term given by the Nazis to describe: Jews/Slavs/Roma/Sinti and homosexuals

(all comments screen grabbed by the way)

Go figure, who the real haters are

  26. Yes, go ahead and give your hard earned money to a man who screwed up the whole investigation.

As a friend of mine who works in the Met said to me, surely, faced with the disappearance of a young child, the first place that any policeman worth his salt would look would be in the hotel room, in case that child was actually hiding rather than being hid. Indeed, besides under the bed or in the wardrobe, where else would there have been to hide?

If, at the time the child went missing, Amaral or one of his colleagues had bothered to search properly in accordance with any basic investigation procedures, then the police would have had a far better chance of finding out what actually happened to her. They didn’t, they screwed up.

    2. What on earth are you talking about? Why would the police need to search the apartment, when Kate & Jerry had already informed them she'd been abducted. Are you saying if the police had scoured the apartment she would have been found alive?

    3. @ 1803

the apt. was NOT a hotel room - there was no lobby to go through - no receptionist to address you - the McCann's apt. had a flight of stairs leading right onto a main road.

can't you even get the basics right - friend of yours in the Met or not?
