A few last words before I hop on top of the bonfire.
Martin Daubney is a really nice guy, and I gave the go ahead for the article he sent me. However, the article published doesn't bear much resemblance to the one I was sent, which of course I still have!
Such is the nature of news and I knew the risks I was taking, stories have to be 'sexed up' in order to sell - sales is sales whether it be double glazing or news papers, and it would be naive to think otherwise.
And, in fairness, it is THE SUN! I expected the article to portray me in a bad light, I was told at the get go it was an article about trolls - I was merely trying to put the new addition to our lexicon in context.
I am not a troll because I use my own name and I am not abusive or threatening, it simply isn't my nature. I behave online as I do offline and I am happy to say most people find me charming, even my enemies, all this was said in the interview too but it doesn't appear.
If I am to be the baddy, so be it. I have no problem with that, I know the truth and am ready, willing and able to shout it from the rooftops. I'm not running off to a lonely hotel room and whatever McCann and Bennett trolls bat at me, will be coming right back at 'em, and then some.
It was a very long interview and I got in as many 'Madeleine' points as I could, the reasons I doubted etc, etc. However, as it was not a 'McCann' article per se, none of those points appeared, but they haven't gone away and they appear regularly on my blog.
Martin was more interested in the AOL forums I used to post in and the kind of behaviour that went on there. It is a generic article about trolling and the social impact on society, and they were looking for points that were relevant. For example I said during the spats it would get down and dirty, which it did, and that I once called one troll creature a sanctimonious bitch and another a CU next Tuesday having reached the point of exasperation with them. This has somehow translated as 'I abused the McCanns' ?????????????????????
The important point of the article is, the vile behaviour of those supporting the McCanns is now out in the public domain and questions will be asked. I've been involved in these wars for years, and discovered that no matter how many millions of words I, or indeed anyone else, types away in forums and discussion groups, things will never ever change. This year my motto is Carpe Diem, in honour of the wonderful Robin Williams. I intend to seize the day whenever the opportunity arises, because the injustice in this case and the farce that is the CSI Inquiry has got me hopping mad and I am bloody well going to do something about it!
Maybe the Sun man read your article WHAT THE MCCANNS REALLY WANT.
ReplyDeleteIf you think that article isn't attacking them then you've got a problem.
Please feel free to rebut one, or any of the points I made in that blog.
DeleteIt's not only what you're saying, it's how you're saying it. e.g. "bat shit crazy". Too aggressive. It's a gift to those who label us 'trolls'. Why give them Christmas presents in January?
Deleteyour lack of self awareness is breathtaking. you are a troll, and you DO abuse the McCanns.
ReplyDeleteIf you read my words 08.:03, you will find nothing abusive towards the McCanns or indeed anyone else. My timeline on twitter is available for anyone to peruse, and my opinions and thoughts are logged throughout this blog.
DeleteAnd what is a troll? It is a newish word, one that conjures up images of androgynous little plastic figurines with brightly coloured hair, or an ugly cave dwelling creature.
At the moment, it is being used to describe anyone who behaves in an anti social manner on the internet under a pseudonym. I am neither anti social nor do I post anonymously.
The troll is also used to describe a member of a pressure group, or a campaign group, who uses the internet to publicise their cause. Handy to call people trolls if you want to shut them up.
I have always been a fan of yours but have to admit this article looks extremely bad hope u got broad shoulders your going to need them britains vilest troll i can be quite a bitch abuse is there heroin what the hell have u got involved in here i thought as a journalist u would of had more sense u have opened yourself to been accused of being in bed with murdoch now
ReplyDeleteI've been accused of much, much, worse 08:04, being in bed with Murdoch eh? Change that name to Gerrard Butler and I would have owned up :)
DeleteMy shoulders are considerably less broad than they were due to the weight loss my friend, but my brain has sprung back into life. They can call me what they wish, or describe me as they wish, and they will - buts its not me they are describing, and I would be a headcase if I thought it was.
The message is out there. The McCann trolls are vile. This is just the beginning.
Cristobell. Stop blogging about the McCanns NOW. For your own good. And for the good of those who ARE, unlike you, seeking the truth about Madeleine. Today you have damaged the cause of justice for Madeleine beyond belief. Just GO
ReplyDeleteJust GO where? Righto, I'll pack my bags.
DeleteYou are giving way more importance than I deserve 08:15, whatever I say or do will not make one iota of difference to the ongoing investigation and the eventual outcome. Have all the thousands of articles and forum posts written about the McCanns changed anything?
Do you think the final resolution of the mystery behind Madeleine's disappearance will spin on whether I am a troll or not? Do you think Scotland Yard's decisions are dependent on whether those who don't believe the McCanns have good reputations?
Do you seriously believe that Scotland Yard rely on the information of ill informed couch detectives with barmy theories on the grounds that supplier of said information has no history of drink, drugs or debauchery?
Good grief. Your thinking astounds me. Anything, absolutely anything, that gets people asking questions is relevant. You may prefer to spend the next 8 years talking politely among yourself (anonymously), but I will use whatever means available to get the message out there.
Don't worry about it, Ros. Everyone makes mistakes - it'll all be forgotten within days.
ReplyDeleteSonia ought to have known better than get involved with the Sun though.
Haven't you even noticed - Ros hasn't said that she made a mistake.
DeleteCan you confirm the date of your mother's death please as you seem to have indicated different dates in articles.
ReplyDeleteWhy have you not answered this question?
DeleteI don't understand why you would work with the Sun to allow them to portray you in such an awful way. It's just more grist for the pro-McCann propaganda machine. It doesn't help Madeleine's cause in the slightest.
ReplyDeleteMartin Daubney isn't a nice guy, he's a tabloid journalist who made his name selling soft porn to young men in Loaded. Of course he's going to be charming to you to get the story and the quotes he needs, but that's not niceness, that's manipulation.
I hope you don't get too much pushback from this. Making yourself a tabloid martyr where they can lie about you and misrepresent you seems a bit of pointless exercise though.
"Significantly the public have not turned on me, I have had nothing but sympathy, they are rightly appalled at what the trolls were doing and now have an idea of what Brenda, and indeed many of us, have to put up with in our endeavours to get justice for Madeleine. That is the story that is getting through, not my mental history or past internet activity."
ReplyDeleteyou must be joking yes?
you have stunted our cause and are a disgrace to everyone. how do you think that this has helped in anyway, you have set us back years in what we have tried to achieve for Madeleine McCann, i would advise you to keep your head under your blankets for a while, some people are really pissed off.
ReplyDeleteVery threatening 10:56. Our cause? What cause? Why do you think the Sun didn't run with 'organised campaign'? There is no 'cause', the only thing we have in common is our disbelief of the McCanns. That doesn't give you or anyone else the right to tell me what my opinions should be or who I should voice them to.
DeleteIn what way I have stunted your cause? Were you going to take over from Scotland Yard? do something pro-active for the first time in nearly 8 years? Arrest all the suspects yourselves?
What were the plans exactly? Discuss whether it was the burglars with a gun in the bedroom or Colonel Mustard with a knife in the pantry for the next 8 years? I seem to have stepped out of line without knowing what the line was.
Open your eyes, look at the bigger picture, anything that brings attention to the discrepancies in the abduction story is worth taking a risk for, and if you take a fall, so what? The McCanns have doing it from the start.
The message today was the appalling behaviour of the McCann trolls and that is the feedback I am getting.
"I have had nothing but sympathy"
ReplyDeleteAre you in a parallel universe?
The only feed back you are getting is that the antis are livid at your behaviour.
ReplyDeleteYou and your elderly 'friends' are despicable trolls.
A huge result for all folks who support the family of a missing child.
Pamela Gurney why dont u go and write a new script
Delete"It's you who needs to get a grip, that article is dreadful it does not read like the christobell I know. I can't believe you think people are jealous that you got asked, there's no way I'd be happy with my name attached to those quotes, "saves kicking the dog". Wtf?"
ReplyDeleteDoes anybody apart from Ros belive that is a message of sympathy?
Ros - you don't owe anyone any explanations or apologies, nor should you be made to feel bad about this article. You represent nobody but yourself and as such you are entitled to express your opinions in your own name in a newspaper interview. If you are satisfied that the article is, on the whole, a fair representation of your views, so be it; if you feel you have been misrepresented you should document exactly what the differences are between what you said/agreed to and what they published and ask for a correction.
ReplyDeleteOne of the things that sickens be about this case is the sheer number of self-appointed 'experts' who think they can enforce what everybody else should be thinking, anonymously, of course. Where were they when Sonia put out the interview request on Twitter? Hiding behind their made-up names knowing best, it seems.
Today's news is tomorrow's chip wrappings. Don't let it be used to hurt you the way it hurt Brenda Leyland.
There is the smell of the green-eyed monster re: some reactions to the Sun piece.
ReplyDeleteTall poppy syndrome - how dare that woman appear in a national red top? Has she had the inner sanctum's permission? - 'Je suis Charlie' is obviously so passé.
Bennett is obviously narked: 'Should have been my gig' - and his last offering re. a private convo/meeting with Cristobell - is nasty in the extreme - and oh -so UNCHRISTIAN - 'Mr.' Bennett.
But Bennett got his applause from the McCann supporters today- so all is in equilibrium.
Whatever one thinks of the Sun piece - if you can do better - using your real name and real pic. - get on to the Sun (other media outlets are available) - and put your side of the story.
Nah, didn't think you would
He did indeed, Bennett and the McCann supporters egging each other with favourites and retweets of the nastiest stuff they can think up, they have become as one in their quest to keep the truth hidden.
DeleteThe speed with which they accepted and indeed promoted the McCanns negative publicity about this article was breathtaking, the McCanns hardly need their own media monitor unit, some of the anti's have been doing it so very well for them this past 8 years.
Out of interest, do you suspect any particular leading antis to be pro plants?
DeleteWhere were ALL of you anti,s when Sonia asked for someone to do this, you were all hiding but willing some else to take it on,you are cowards the whole damn lot of you,and yet you want justice for Maddie, yer my arse
ReplyDeleteCarpe Diem as you say. Say it as it is. I support your questioning of the official narrative. Richard D Hall's film on the Madeline case highlights the questions needing to be answered. Regards
ReplyDeleteI want to be fair to you, Cristobell..you clearly are a good person who cares about this case. But it was a bad decision to speak to the Sun. When the invite from Sonia Poulton came around, did she say it was for that paper? I hope you'll publish the version that was given to you in advance (surprised, reporters don't usually do that) I can't read the article online either so am commenting on the screen grab that was posted on FaceBook . Yes, it reduces everyone who comments on the case as a bunch of obsessed people and that is so unfair.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking from experience, BTW, as someone quite involved in the Meredith Kercher murder case involving Amanda Knox. Our groups Perugia Murder File and True Justice for Meredith Kercher had to work very hard not to be painted in that light, or let the focus be on us, as opposed to the case. So yes, I am very sensitive to that. But I also know it will blow over. Truth will out.
Lol! Your group "True Justice for Meredith Kercher" is known to be instigated by a man who has an obsession for young women; in this case it happens to be a dead young woman for whom he has a sick obsession. Other 'alive' young women have reported your obsessive stalking in a manner that cannot be disputed. Furthermore, unlike Cristobell, the so called "True Justice for Meredith Kercher" site does not allow posts by anyone who disagrees with the mob.
DeleteYour "True Justice for Meredith Kercher" site has done a HUGE amount of damage to the Kercher family and the memory of Meredith. Why is its founders only interested in young women??? Why is it is run by middle aged men???
Christobell's Sun article was a piece of momentary fluff in a tabloid newspaper, whose contents she could not control.
Your site about Meredith is controlled and creepy.
I don't know what happened in the Meredith Kercher case; but I would never take seriously a site set up my middle aged male stalkers who spend their lives obsessing about Meredith Kercher and Amanda Knox. I can just 'imagine' what sick fantasies go on in your head to keep you devoting your ENTIRE lives to these two young women.
There is nothing creepy about Cristobell.
You have NO IDEA how many people are seriously turned off the Kercher's point of view by narcissistic, creepy men that devote their entire lives to such a subject.
I don't agree with your theories about the McCanns, however I respect your right to have your own opinion. I almost feel as if you 'could' be one of those people who could sensibly discuss this case with someone who holds a different opinion. That's what this should be about; not the forming of one party against another, but open, respectful debate. You don't seem at all nuts to me - certainly a lot saner than those who have attacked you for the Sun article!
