FORUMS - ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK

Bleeding forums, where do I start?  I was one of those innocents when I first stumbled onto forums, or chat rooms as they used to be called. I'd had the internet since 1999, but it was much slower then, and I didn't have to time to take anything other than a peek now and then.  I was a mature student with a frantically busy life, an annoying teenager, a pesky mutt (Barnabus Bubble) and gall stones, and the fast moving chat rooms were impossible to keep up with up.

As I had more time and got more internet savvy, I ventured further.  Although I am happily single, I often wanted a bit of company, although my little dog had a hearty appetite for our 'Dine in for Two's', he wasn't much of conversationalist. The best he could manage at the end of a meal was ''ere, wasn't one of those puddings supposed to be mine?'.  He only really had two subjects, food and walkies as in 'I'm sure the chicken's done, go take a look, come on, I'll show you where it is or I've been watching it for 2 hours', and 'here's my lead, get your arse off that sofa, that raging storm outside will be great fun'.

For me the social side of the internet was phenomenal. Then, as now, I was blown away by the fact that I could talk to anyone about any subject I wanted.  I started with baby steps.  I like books, so I looked for book chats.  Unfortunately, I didn't find a Bloomsbury Group deconstructing Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, I found a hot and heavy group from the 40s/50s discussing Stephensen's Rocket with some randy stragglers from Pub Chat.

My breakthrough came with the Celebrity Big Brother chat room, if I had thought the message boards a trifle brusque, the chat rooms were ferocious!  It was the year Michael Barrymore and George Galloway were in the Big Brother house, so there were ding dongs all round. I couldn't understand how people could become so emotionally involved in a program on the telly, to the point where they were calling the police and their lawyers.  Then, as now, I found it most of it highly amusing, but I could also see the dark and sinister side.

I will not tell a lie, all that fighting down in the mud and the blood and beer gave me a buzz! It was like a more genteel version of Fight Club (maybe not so genteel), where I knew sure as eggs is eggs I could always find someone else in the mood to go ten rounds.  To be honest, that is probably one of things I miss most about my ex, he was always ready, willing and able to partake in a verbal or physical spar.  A rowdy game of Trivial Pursuit could often end in police being called and a Restraining Order (a sparrow HAS got 3 toes you eejit!).  We would have been great on Jeremy Kyle!

But I jest, most of the people I encountered in the forums were much like myself.  People looking for a bit of company and a good giggle and it appalled me watching those I liked and who's views I wanted to hear more of, being driven away by gangs of marauding malcontents who's mission it was to stop debate and all or any signs of joviality.  Ever since I was a little kid, I have stood up to bullies. Not only could I stand up for myself, I could stand up for others too.  I could talk the hind legs off a donkey and when all else failed, I could punch as good as any boy!

The more the gangs tried to drive people away, the more I dug my heels in.  One of the pluses of losing everything, is that you literally have nothing left to lose!  I can kind of see why George Orwell traded his posh suit with a tramp and headed to London and Paris.  Having nothing can be incredibly liberating, it makes you wonder why you fought so hard to hang onto stuff in the first place.

Unfortunately many people see spending hours on the internet talking to strangers as kind of weird and sad, and they have to pretend that they don't do it.  It implies that you have no life and nothing better to do. These ideas are ridiculous of course, chatting on the internet is no different to chatting over the garden fence, but a zillion times better. You can actually choose who you speak to, tell them your name, or not, and move swiftly on if you get bored. Millions of  people who would otherwise be alone and isolated can now connect with others who share their interests, rather than their nearest and dearest who are probably telling them to give it a rest. We should be enjoying it, rather than covering it up.

For the first time in history we are not restricted to selecting our life partners from neighbours' offspring or the chance meeting of soulful eyes across a dance floor.  I am a confirmed singleton (no one will have me, lol), but for those who's mojo's are still active, they no longer have to make do with the nice but dim or the slutty professional wife looking for more sparkly rings for her toes.

But back to the strange world of the forums.  In 2007 specialist forums sprung up everywhere, it was before Facebook completely took over.  My encounter with the CBB board, had left me somewhat shellshocked and I had avoided social media for a while.  However, the Madeleine case had sparked my interest, and AOL were directing those wishing to discuss the case towards the Europe Board.  The main commentators on the case posted on the Mirror readers comments.  Most were very aggressive and had little time for newbies, they were firmly entrenched.  Other National newspapers had similar comment boards - but all were closed down at the end of 2007/beginning of 2008.

The most prominent board that sprung out of the 'Nationals' was The Three Arguidos.  I joined, but I rarely attempted to post. Even then they took themselves far too seriously. I stuck with the Europe Board because no-one was in charge, even though takeovers were threatened daily, lol, and no-one could censor me!  Any sane person would have run for the hills, but I got a weird sort of buzz out of it.  I'd go to bed thinking 'ah, so, it's a fight you want!' lol.  I didn't want to get into any sort of actual fisticuffs with them I hasten to add, I just wanted to hand out the occasional clip round the ear, or a complete body slam if my opponent was a fascist.  My profile was Cristobell, Marxist, Feminist,  so I was asking for it really, the lol, came later.

No doubt my critics will make much of my 'sick' need for conflict. The Freudians might say I need to relive my childhood trauma over and over so I can make things right.  I am still fighting the same injustices I saw then as I see now, and I still can't shut up about them. The people I stood up to were the bullies, people who believed their chosen path in life real or imagined, should be the same for everyone else.

Some were pure evil, they latched onto and logged sensitive issues that would bring the most pain to their targets. Disability, loneliness, depression, drugs, alcohol, all the things we should have been talking about, were strictly taboo.  I have always been honest about my own bipolar, I prefer to challenge the piss takers head on than hide away from them.

I first ventured onto the AOL Europe Board in September 2007.  It had been running for several months, and sides had been taken! The McCanns had never been out of the news and my poor ill mum and I were following the case.  I kept wondering why the parents were lying and making light of the distance between the apartment and the tapas bar.  And why they showed no signs of guilt.  It niggled me.

The AOL boards were a phenomenon.  completely unmonitored, uncensored and on occasion a complete free for all.  Antis posting with Pros, and the ratio was about 50:50.  A good friend of mine, a psychiatrist, took a look there one day and asked if I was completely insane. I'm afraid I had to say yes!  I was completely addicted.  It was my first port of call every morning and every break time! Even the most trivial of arguments were blown completely out of proportion. I met people I would never encounter or socialise with in the real world, and the opportunity to tell those who's views I found obnoxious and narrow minded, exactly what I thought of them.  Albeit, I tried to do it in the nicest possible way.

I have never been afraid of the trolls in a physical sense, they are a bit like vampires, they can only suck on your blood if you allow them in.  When I shut my laptop, they all go back to their underground coffins.  I give them as little or as much of my time as I choose.

Bizarrely those of us on the Aol boards became 'friends' of sorts. The lines remained firmly divided between anti and pro, but the bitching often turned into uproarious exchanges of banter that led to much hilarity.  Hundreds came and went, but there were 20 or 30 of us who posted (bickered) regularly and we were all equally hooked, not just to the McCann case but to arguing with each other.  And of course after 5 years we had to become more creative with our insults!

Some of them were I fear, criminally insane.  Especially, the fanatically right wing who thought the muslims were to blame for everything. Those who worshipped the Drs. McCann, were just weird.  They lived fantasy lives in cuckoo land acting out their Perry Mason moments, where they prove beyond reasonable doubt that the butler did it with the candlestick in the pantry.

I don't have any regrets for the years I wasted on the Europe boards.  They gave me an insight into human behaviour I could never have found anywhere else. Mostly, I remember the laughter, and I remember having access to a friendly ear any time of the day or night. As an insomniac, manic depressive and regular caller to the Samaritans, it became a lifeline for me, depending on who was online, I good have a good giggle, a cosy heart to heart, an in depth debate or a full blown street fight.

The Europe Board, that became Penny Stocks, then Ya Gotta Laugh, was the wild West of the internet.  There were no monitors, regulators or admin.  It was a free for all, no-one could be banned and no-one could take charge, but it found it's own, albeit very low, level.  The potty mouths and the name callers got little attention unless they could say something substantial, and of course, they couldn't. Cloning was a regular occurrence and I had dozens; Cristohell, Cristobella, just about every variation of Cristobell you could imagine, lol. Many of my enemies have been around for a very long time, and I am still laughing.

I don't know if the McCanns kept their 'big gun' monitors for the 3 Arguidos and the organised groups that emerged out of the closure of the Mirror comments, but it seemed that way. I'm guessing AOL (America OnLine) was beyond the control of Clarence, so they ignored it.  The eejits trying to bring Law and Order to AOL, were mostly uniform fantasists acting out their dreams of a Fourth Reich.  When AOL finally closed their chatrooms, I found my way to the Jill Havern forum and that was when things took a much darker turn, but I will save it for another day.

For myself, I have no desire to join any more forums, I find it laborious trying to write with a censorship sword hanging over me.  It is impossible to please all the people all the time, and writing shouldn't be like that.  I have no problem whatsoever with people disagreeing with me.  And they have as much freedom as I have to write whatever they want in response.  I don't claim to be right, God forbid, I am always open to different opinions, I welcome different perspectives. Those miffed that I won't published their comments, simply need to cut out the personal abuse and put forward some valid points.  There is no need to be rude.

In the case of Madeleine McCann, I would love to be wrong, but I haven't yet heard a single argument that persuades that I am, or that there is even room for doubt.  And bizarrely, all that threatening, stalking and name calling hasn't changed my mind either.

Maybe that is because you don't have a problem with people like hideho.

You have said in the past that you have researched the case - if you had really done research you would realise how wrong people like hidiho are.

    And - you are wrong.

    1. Your current fixation with HiDeHo is starting to look suspicious 21:39. I don't exactly know what it is that is troubling you, nor do I care very much.

If your defence of the McCanns is reliant on discrediting ALL their critics, then you are on very thin ice indeed. Even if Goncalo and Lizzie were Bonnie and Clyde reincarnate, it still wouldn't make one iota of difference to the big question. What happened to Madeleine?

    2. So you don't care very much about somebody spreading lies, misinformation and libel. I will discredit any "critic" that doesn't tell the truth.

You have already given your version of what happened to Madeleine - Kate cracked and Gerry covered up.

  3. A good blog Cristobell but i noticed you got a couple of things wrong.

The Mirror was not just "readers comments" it was a proper forum with loads of sections like football, health, food, what are you talking about.etc.
The 3As did'nt spring up from the "nationals" it sprung up because the Mirror shut the Maddy section so the evicted members started the 3As.The Mirror forum was a national newspaper forum and was world famous.I would go so far to say that if the Mirror forum was still going the other forums probably would'nt have sprung up.
The Mirror forum was very addictive.

    1. Many thanks 21:57, the Mirror was indeed a proper forum 21:57 and the most popular 'McCann' discussion site. For me the closure of the Mirror Board was a huge 'WTF' moment and confirmation that people 'in authority' were helping the parents with the cover up.

The UK Media at that time were acting as if the Portuguese 'Arguido' status of Kate and Gerry didn't even exist, or that it was an abomination forced onto two nice British doctors by a third world police force that didn't know its' arse from its' elbow.

Watching Gerry, Kate and their pal Jim Gamble, being entertained by sofa queens helping them run an investigation entirely separate from the Portuguese Judiciary was equally bizarre. It felt like a moment from 'Father Ted' - 'are we all to be racists now Father?',

The way in which the British Establishment rallied around the McCanns and accepted the paper thin abduction story of the parents over the valid findings of the Portuguese Authorities was astonishing and downright insulting to another nation.

And don't get me started on 'we all leave our babies on their own in strange hotel rooms and apartments while we go have a meal' brigade. Them, I just feel an overwhelming urge to slap. Telling dim witted parents who look to doctors and television presenters for childcare advice that 'we all do it' was in my opinion, one of the most damaging aspects of this scam.

Babies and young children should never, ever, be left on their own. Whining about how hard you work, how much you need adult company, how it was only a short distance away etc, etc. cuts no ice. There are no excuses, parents are responsible for the care and protection of their children. There is no bogeyman.

I have little sympathy for adults who think, or indeed insist, that their lives should carry on exactly as it did before once the patter of little footsteps arrives. For them, their kids' childhoods will not be a happy time, because they know the time their parents spend with them is begrudged. And when they reach their teenage years they will cash in on it. For parents with rigid life plans, the arrival of kids rarely turns out to be the start of a new model army, so much as a hostile takeover by aliens. It's much easier to surrender or revert to Plans A through Z.

Children are small and vulnerable for such a short period of their lives, we should love and enjoy every precious moment. That's easy to forget when they are running you ragged and you long for just an hour to yourself, but when you look back, you will smile, if not lol at the memories.

  4. Evening Cristobell :) Thank you for granting my wish lol you're a bit like a magician you seem to be able to pull any subject out of the hat as a subject for discussion. Are you never lost for words!!

I think as you reveal a little about yourself and your character each time you put up one of your blogs for discussion, It's only fair I should return the compliment, lol.
First feel privileged,:) as I normally don't give away any details about myself anywhere on the internet, as I don't want hounding by past enemies on the boards that might recognise me by what I say! My first name is Barbara, I'm divorced (thank God I got rid of him years ago) He was a alcoholic womaniser who beat me up regularly when intoxicated, or the team he played rugby for lost the game. I decided I wasn't putting up with any more of his nonsense/violence and decided I would rather be a single parent and bring up my two children on my own, which would make for a happier life for them and for me. I often used to sit up at night writing poetry as a way to escape my unhappiness or await his return home inebriated, in the early hours of the morning frightened of what state he would be in, or if he'd mistake my wardrobe for the loo, yes I put up with all that! plus cleaning his vomit up! After two whole years of being alone, although the children were delightful I yearned for adult conversation and to have the strong arms of a man wrapped around me for comfort, cuddles and to protect me. I decided it was time to venture back into the big bad world and find myself a new partner. After a few months of dating John we seemed to get along and both have the same sense of humour so we set up home together, we are still together but age can sometimes change people they get illnesses and become different people what you liked about them when you first met can sometimes be lost along the way. that's why I spend more time on here while he's snoring his head off in a chair I come here for company, you can't interfere with your children's life's and be on their doorsteps 24/7 can you? we have set days for that!! Good job I still see my friend who I met in infants school all those years ago. Bye the way I conveniently forgot to say I'm 63 years young!!

I hear some banging about in the kitchen, thud, crash, bang, I think he's just awoke from his slumber and is trying to inform me he's ready for his supper.

Sorry if I've bored you to tears with my ramblings but It's been really therapeutic for me, lol. :)

    1. 22:09 Hi Barbara delighted to meet you and reading your post was a delight! What a wonderfully, easy flow you have to your writing Barbara, I do hope you have a memoir or some fiery fiction on the go! You are a natural.

It really doesn't matter if our immediate relationships are stable, unstable or conducted through lawyers, they cannot satisfy all our needs. The McCann case is a forbidden topic with my nearest and dearest. Probably why I turned to forums. If I wake up trembling in the wee small hours wondering whether the 'Last Photo' was real or not [it will never happen] I know I can always find someone to have a row with lol.

I bet you have a few stories about your dating experiences Barbara, I know I have. I must find a way to split my blog into separate sections, I have always found sharing my experiences and listening to the experiences of others to be a)hilarious and b)v. enlightening!

During rounds with my ex, who I simultaneously adored, yet hated, lol, I joined Dateline. I think my dad paid, lol, anything to get me away from my 'Heathcliffe', bless him. To cut a long story short, I learned to arrange the dates far from where anyone knew me, and during the lunch hour so I could make a quick exit!

Writing is indeed therapeutic Barbara, I recommend it to everyone. As you say, we can't and shouldn't live in our childrens' pockets. It is THEIR time now and we need to let them do their own thing (and yes, I struggle), but if we are happy, they are happy. To be honest, I think the 50's and 60's are great, probably for the first time in our lives WE have the freedom to do what we want! If we want to run off with a snake hipped rumba dancer from Cuba, there is nothing stopping us!

Anyway, a huge welcome from me Barbara, not boring at all, I look forward to more!

    2. Hi Cristobell :) Thanks for the compliments about my amateurish post, I do try to make them interesting but find it hard going sometimes trying to get the balance right, so it doesn't come across as a confusing jumbled up mess!!

It would be lovely to have a cosy corner on here away from prying eyes were we could discuss anything, and everything, about some aspects of our life's some hilariously funny, others not (sigh) the broom cupboard would be ideal which is where my black cat can be found (clue) No I'm not mad I just retreat into my fantasy world now and again :) I'm on your friends list on your Facebook page, as you know if you click on my picture it will take you to my page, then you'll be enlightened as to what a mad hatter I really am! It's not been updated for a while though as I'm much too busy elsewhere if you get my drift!! Enough of my nonsense now back to reality:) Yes, I have many funny stories about dates I've had where I'd poke my head around the corner before letting him know it was me he would be dating, just to see if he was well presented and worthy of my company, lol. Well, after-all I'd made the effort so why shouldn't he? One of my dates once turned up in a lumberjack shirt, lol he looked as if he'd just left the building site, I considered this to be an insult, if he couldn't care less about his appearance after I'd gone to all the trouble of dolling myself up and smelling divine then this gentleman wasn't for me, so I scarped to the nearest takeaway and ended up back home, alone with a Chinese and a bottle of plonk for good measure, lol.

Thanks for the welcome :) it's a pleasure chatting to you, I feel as If I've known you for years. You're definitely a good egg! I can spot the bad one's a mile off.'' What people say is what they are'' which is evident by some of the posts I read on here.

      Will be back soon

  5. If the parents were completely innocent they wouldn't need to lie about anything, nor would they need to check whether cadaver dogs are reliable (Gerry) If Kate was innocent why didn't she answer the 48 questions? you can't implicate yourself if you've done nothing wrong. Weird why you would go to the trouble of thoroughly cleaning the apartment, curtains included, if you're innocent. Far too many coincidences/ backtracking to be believable. Nobody will ever convince me they know nothing about what happened to Madeleine! People will believe what they want, it's their prerogative. Just don't try to brainwash the disbelievers into your way of thinking, It won't wash.

  7. Very interesting. There seems to be massive reaction to Hideho's research about Madeleine being 'gone' already earlier in the week. I guess she is rather close to the truth. The parents want people to believe 1.M was abducted. 2. IT happened 3 May. They know a lot of people rather think an accident happened that same day. Somehow they are okay with that, because they can 'explain it away'. Simply by using 'there was no time to stage everything on Thursday. Which is true. There wouldn't be. That's why earlier in the week is a no go area. If people started to realise that 'it' happened on Sunday or Monday, everything changes. So much more time on hand...

  8. CEOP and the Wayback glitch was pure rot, that was no glitch and if anyone ultimately ends up in the dock in front of a judge it will be the CORRUPT Gamble and very possibly his partner in crime the unmerciful Mason.

There was no swinging, and they were recorded by SKY the week prior. An eight-year-old boy died in 2005. FACT.

Kate Healy is off the hook, but not those two dirty rotten shysters. FACT again!

Brenda Leyland (a fake name and address) did not die, but they very nearly killed me.

  11. @ Anonymous 02.40 You are famous! Your post has made it to the thread started by HideHo on Havern's place about how little credible evidence there is about Maddie being alive after Sunday. Ros, what do you think about this issue?

    1. 13:32 As to the actual logistics of how the crime and cover up occurred, I have never been persuaded by any theory outside of that of Goncalo Amaral and the PJ. They were on the scene, they interviewed the witnesses and the crimescene was still 'fresh'.

I think it is appalling actually that people on the net are calling the witnesses who gave statements, liars. Who the feck do they think they are? The witnesses gave their statements to the police, why these 'net police' think they have the right to tear them to shreds and publicly blacken their names is diabolical imo.

Just as they have slurred my name with a Harassment Warning, they are slurring the names of innocents who have been dragged into this circus through no fault of their own. These people have lives, families and careers, their loved ones and potential employers should not be reading that they are 'known liars' on social networking sites. Vile myths and rumours started by an interfering old busybody who is well known to the police.

I believe Goncalo Amaral and I believe the dogs. I think the idea that a few armchair detectives know more than the original Portuguese investigation is absurd and actually quite insulting to the detectives. These Maddie 'theorists' are 'working' with 8 year old documents, they haven't met any of the characters and they have never visited the crime scene.

How many of the witnesses involved must be lying in order to prove Maddie was not alive after Sunday? 2, 4, 6, more? Seriously? All these people ready, willing and able to assist in the cover up of a child's death?

I think some have crossed over from obsession to full blown madness. Whilst we can discuss the case, and put pressure on the authorities to find justice for Madeleine, we can't actually solve the case or prosecute anyone!

I see the cesspit are now trying to turn this production into a cast of thousands and doing a darn good job of muddying the waters. In order to make Mr. Bennett's or even Lizzie's theory fit the facts available, they have to change or discredit the existing witnesses statements. You can't make a square peg fit in a round hole, which is exactly what TB, HideHo and Textusa are trying to do and they think if they cut the corners off, we won't notice.

But to be honest, none of it matters one iota anyway. What exactly are they hoping to achieve? The only result they can hope for with their theories is 'told ya so' or 'ah, that's how they did it'. Its unlikely there will be any knighthoods or services to the community awards handed out when this is all over.

I often wonder what has happened to the old crew. I am friends with 'Sherry' and Kath (Arthur) on Facebook, and Graceland Ann, Jo and Bev have looked in here. Bev still thoroughly disapproves of me I think, lol, but she doesn't seem as angry now.

I know some of the old AOL folk went onto the actual American board, and I tried posting there, but Sally and few others were just not having it. It was a shame because I liked the Americans and we had a few good debates. I think Sarsons Sal is now posting in JATKY2, where I am sure she feels right at home.

I think all the supposed new members and the 20,000 hits a day is another of Bennett's scams. The place goes hours and hours without any new comments, and any comments that do appear are from the usual suspects. That is the problem when you only allow one line of debate, you eventually end up on your own and/or pointing a gun at your remaining hostages forcing them to agree with you. Not a pretty sight.

Do you really believe Madeleine's nanny, Catriona, who had only met the McCanns a few days earlier, would walk two detectives through a reconstruction of Maddie's last day, and totally flat out lie about Madeleine being alive, and going on a boat trip with her on 3rd May, 2007? I've already stated above that there had to be two nannies present that day, one to take the first load of kiddies across, and one to stay on the beach with the remainder. It would take just one person to refute what Catriona had said, and she would have ended up a prime suspect, and been made an arguido along with the McCanns, and her life ruined!

Whatever people say about Catriona, I don't believe she would have told such a lie, hence I feel her statement is proof Madeleine was seen/alive during the daytime on 3rd May, 2007. "

  37. To be honest, I am not really surprised the nannies were sent to work in Greece, they were probably traumatised. And I don't think we can assume too much from Catriona's visit to Leicester, unless of course she has changed her statement since. I am not even suspicious that she felt personally involved. Young girls who work as nannies do so because they love kids and when they are in loco parentis for tiny tots, it is inevitable that the nannies would become attached to them. The idea that after days of looking after Maddie, Catriona didn't know who Maddie was, is absurd.

It seems to me that the cesspit are now trying new tactics to muddy this case should it ever come to trial. Bennett's Smithman nonsense is now dead in the water, he can never get more than 4 votes and at least 3 of them are his own.

Why are they doing backward somersaults to disprove the theory of Goncalo Amaral and the original investigation? Do they too think the PJ can't be trusted? Do they believe they know more than Operation Grange?

I do wonder what they are up to sometimes, it seems to me as though they are aiming to derail any trial, rather than assist it.

    2. From Catriona Baker Rogatory Statement "Mark Warner moved me from the Ocean Club about one week after - 13th of May, I believe. "

I would be reluctant to accept any story by the Daily Mail on its own, but the fact is that Catriona Baker's rogatory confirms she was moved from the resort. The Mail quotes " a friend" in October 2007 where St Augustin in Greece is mentioned as the new workplace. If it is true or not that 3 other nannie were also moved to Greece , one cannot be sure . But as far as Catriona Baker is concerned , we do know she was moved from the OC , MArk Warner did not programme any other resort in Portugal, so Catriona Baker moved countries, more than likely to Greece since the Mail Piece went unchallenged. If this means anything or not, I don't know.

  39. Why is it unthinkable that M died earlier in the week? Some 'activities' get their logical explanation (deleted phone calls-sms to mention one) if that is the case. Either you believe M was abducted, or you don't. If you believe something else happened, you also realise that a bunch of people have been lying. Their so called checking on the children- time line is riddled with inconsistencies. So are the days before Thursday. Kate McCanns book gives quite a few clues in that direction too. Of course people lied (and probably not only Tapas9). If you have difficulties believing that , well then go ahead and defend the abduction story.

  40. Of course the whole week is riddled with inconsistencies 05:46. When the McCanns reported the 'abduction' they were also providing the perfect parents, perfect family, perfect holiday, narrative.

However, as the week started off with Gerry saying 'fuck off, I'm not here to enjoy myself', it was probably anything but perfect - the bus journey shows there were simmering tensions. Two selfish parents, each wanting to do their own thing, 3 walking, talking, screaming toddlers demanding attention and you have a recipe for disaster.

Kate dismisses the 'row' she had with Gerry as nothing, no more than a tin of beans falling off a shelf. They NEVER row, she told the interviewers, and in her book she brushes off her husband's bullish behaviour as 'Gerry being Gerry'. People criticised Gerry for playing tennis in the days after Madeleine disappeared, but she 'knew' how hard he worked. If the father of my missing child were playing tennis instead of searching for her, I would rip his head off, but I guess that's just me.

Unfortunately, for Kate, Gerry and the whole group, they did not have much time to collaborate about the events leading up to 3rd May. They barely had time to agree the events of the night, they had to scribble them down on a page torn out of Madeleine's colouring book.

On the 4th May they were all being interviewed by the police. Ergo, no time to iron out the finer details of the preceding days and they had no idea what other witnesses might say. Even when they gave their next statements, they still didn't know what others had said, the police files were not released until the case was shelved. They were no doubt desperate to know what Catriona (and her colleagues) had said prior to their meeting at the hotel with the rest of the group.

And not because Madeleine had disappeared earlier in the week, in case the theorists go getting themselves all worked up, but because they probably wanted to know about their child's last days. How she had been, how she had behaved etc. It is quite natural, the motives for wanting to see Catriona do not have to be sinister. And for Catriona, it was kind of her to go and see them, for her, they were grieving parents.

I do think the arrogant 'God Complex', sadly, rife among doctors, took hold. They believed that as doctors, they would be above suspicion and that the 'inferior' Portuguese police wouldn't trouble them too much. We can see from the doctors' statements that they have a sense of arrogance and entitlement, that goes way above that of most people. They believe that the police and ALL of their critics, are several rungs below them on the evolutionary ladder, the first cops on the scene were referred to by Kate as Tweedledum and Tweedledee, confirming that they had no intention of co-operating with the police from the off.

I expect there were incidents during the week that they collectively decided to cover up, probably 'minor' incidents, such as arguments, kids having tantrums. The frustration of the Millinium café (free grub) being so far and having no baby buggies(?)etc. Several of them being struck down with vomiting etc, their inability to sort out their evening child minding. The perfect relaxing holiday, really?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I guess it comes down to what we really think happened to Madeleine. Wanting to know how she had been, had behaved etc is indeed quite natural for a parent to want to know. IF the death was sudden, unexpected as in an accident i.e the child is last seen 'alive and well' ... The parents go dining, and next thing she is discovered dead due to a fall behind the sofa (or some other unexpected incident). Within less than two hours they come up with the abduction plan.
And same parents want to know how their child behaved, how she had been during the week....? Unselfish reasons and all. Sorry I don't believe that. If Madeleine McCann was not abducted, something very sinister happened to her. EVERYTHING points in that direction- the smirks(who does that after an accidental death??!), the 'positive' energy to do things, planning trips, setting up the fond , giving allmost cheerful interviews etc etc. Looking more like lotterywinners than parents of a missing child in some pictures (balloons outside church in PdL, Marocco as examples).

  46. Hello Ros.
But Anonymous 12.05, you haven’t provided any evidence that CB was “sent to Greece”, have you? And the date the Mail says she was, ahem, “despatched” does not agree with the date in the CB rogatory statement which, furthermore, does not mention Greece.

With respect, that is not evidence: it is your opinion based on a newspaper report. A report which was spiced up with words like “despatched” to suggest that there was something fishy going on. And that’s because the Mail was trying to make a boring non-story interesting and conceal the fact that it had been fed to them by the McCann’s defence team via Mitchell.

Now you say she was only “more than likely” moved to Greece, which isn’t evidence either.
I never understand this willingness to accept unsubstantiated material in the McCann affair. Who benefits?

My only wish is that you would continue to blog on this case.
'Hatred Becomes Them' was epic in my opinion.

  47. Dear Blacksmith ,
As you may read from my post, my statement that Catriona Baker was moved from the OC by MW is officially substantiated in her rogatory statement. MW do not programme any other resort in Portugal , therefore she was placed in another country.

When I wrote I believed it was Greece I did so as a deduction and did not present it as a fact , I believe that is quite clear.

frankly , if she was moved to Greece or to Ceylam is totally indifferent to me or to the case. however, in order to be factual, it is important to acknowledge that Catriona Baker states that MW moved her from the OC on the 13th of May. unless Catriona lied in her rogatory or was sacked by MW, MW placed her in another country and that is a fact.

Finally, I rarely , if ever, make assumptions based on the Daily Mail or other media alone. MW does not operate in that many countries for sun holidays , there's an interview ( in a rag , I totally agree) that mentions the Greek resort, I trust it is a fair assumption to make that she more than likely was placed there. Does it matter to the case, what does it mean, I have no idea. It is an assumption I made and I never presented "Greece" as a fact. Isabel ( apologies, I meant to sign my last comment but obviously didn't )

Allowing these people to take over your head is madness - they either will or won't, get their 'karma', but either way, it won't make one iota of difference to your own life. And if you make their futures, your future, you will never be happy again.

You really need to focus on your own health and recovery and accept that what will be will be. In the overall scheme of things, your problems with the people mentioned will be little more than an unhappy memory. Sometimes, you just have to let some things go.

If you are still angry, you have it within your power to write calm, rational, letters to governing bodies or institutions or to the editors of newspapers. And those are the letters that receive attention, not the ranting ones.

This is blatant libel - but yet you publish it Ros!

    1. Martin Grime is highly respected both here and in the USA, I doubt he will be concerned with the rant of an unstable contributor to my blog. Given his line of work, I imagine he gets called all sorts, it comes with the territory when you are part of the evidence that can put people away for a long, long time.

And seriously, do you really have nothing better to do than spend hours pouring over texts looking for libel?

It didn't take hours - I spotted it in less than a minute - maybe my brain works faster than yours.

  56. Karl Krezelewsk and Jencalo Amoral on Twitter are truly enlightening specimens, they lead the way to all channels of corruption and abuse of power.

Kate & Gerry may seem like the bad people in all this, I say they are also the used and abused.

    Auntie, not anti Julie x

  57. Julie ; if you have something to say, please say it in plain English. You make no sense at all and just sound bonkers.

  58. Having called in here can I mention yet again the vile, extraordinary and filthy personal abuse that Ros, Sonya Poulton and JCL constantly receive, both from McCann supporters and the Cesspit inhabitants?

Why the weird fury against them masquerading as contempt? If people are contemptible or idiotic, as the inmates claim of these three, then they are normally treated dismissively or with derision. But that’s not what happens, is it? Instead their enemies clearly intend not to dismiss or deride, let alone to refute, but exclusively to hurt.

And they constantly give away the fact that they have devoted much time to searching for emotional and physical weak spots, sensitivities, biographical details, anything, true or false, that enables them to cause pain to these three – while pretending that they’ve dashed off quick and obvious mots juste.

The desire to wound, which is clearly the aim of these attacks, is only sane when it is in self-defence: but there is, of course, no self-defence involved here. UK law has long recognised the real, not distant or imaginary element, of violence in verbal onslaughts by including them in the crime of assault. Assaults is what they are.

Why are women singled out? And is it chiefly by other women? I remember appealing to Havern without result in 2009 to stop encouraging verbal violence on her misbegotten forum because, as I wrote, I feared that one day someone would eventually die as a result. In 2013 it happened.

    1. Hey Blacksmith! Thank you.Thank you for every word you have written regarding this 8 year old scam. I think your blog is the best thing I've ever read about the case. Bennett, Aqulia,Verdi,et al aren't worth the shit on your shoes. xxxx
BTW, Julie , was the entire inquest a sham? I know it was a disgrace, I was there.
This talk of a dead child is disturbing to say the least.
There have been enough riddles already in this sorry saga.

  59. It would be certainly very good if all those interested in the case could all stop all personal attacks and unite so far as is possible on the search for the truth.

    ...... Says Tony Bennett today.

Bit rich with all the attacks, accusations and outright lies he has made.

The way he treated Candyfloss and trying his best to get MMM shut down was a disgrace.

The way he constantly attacks you CB and Sonia as well, is a disgrace. Using his socks to carry it on is a tragedy.

The way he has lied about me as well as lots of others is a disgrace.

What a weird chap who is clearly not well.

Good work on the GA article though if in fact that was down to him.

Unfortunately, you cant believe a word that man says.

    Imo.

    Regards, Andrew

It's interesting that people on MMM and elsewhere are saying it was an apology - it wasn't - it was a correction.

"We would like to make it clear that there was no determination by the court that Mr. Amaral lied. In fact the court ruled that Mr. Amaral had breached the McCanns' right to reputation and ordered him to pay damages to them."

The Express used it as a reminder that Amaral lost and was ordered to pay damages to the Mccanns.

      A victory?

    2. That's what I saw too 21:05, I saw no victory for Mr. Amaral, just a reminder that the McCanns won.

  61. Duplicitous Tony Bennett has been caught red-handed at CMMOM altering the text of Julie's comment here. What a scuzzbucket he is. IMO

  62. I notice they have locked the 'riddler' thread over there. Why is it that when a thread over there starts to get really interesting it gets locked. And then TB pops up with another Smithman poll. Or another pat-on-the-back thread such as the apology thread which as you point out Cristobell is a correction rather than an apology.
