SMITHMAN - THE LADY DOTH PROTEST TOO MUCH

When I first read about the sighting by the Smith family 8 years ago, I was astonished that the McCanns were not using it to support their claim that Madeleine had been abducted.  The Smiths, a family of 6, had seen a man carrying a child through the streets of PDL at almost the exact time that the alarm was raised, yet the McCanns went with the solitary sighting of Jane Tanner for the efit drawings and their public appeals.

For me, the fact that they weren't using the Smith family sighting was one of the facets of this case that convinced me something was being covered up.  As more details emerged, it became apparent that the man seen by the Smiths looked exactly like Gerry McCann.  Looking at the overall picture, I considered the chances of a doppelganger of the father carrying a doppelganger of the missing child through the streets of PDL on the night of 3rd May, too much of a coincidence to dismiss.

Even if there were a double of Gerry McCann in Portugal, or more specifically staying in the tiny resort of PDL at the same time as the tapas holiday group, what would be the chances of him being out and about at the same time as Gerry, and carrying a child who looked exactly like Gerry's missing daughter? The words snowball in hell came to mind.

The idea that the Smith family are lying to protect a man known only casually to the grandfather is ludicrous.  Why would a nice family from Ireland embed themselves in a high profile crime and put themselves and their 12 year old daughter at risk of being charged with the very serious crime of perverting the course of justice?  Not to mention of course, that the case involved the possible death and disposal of the body of a 3 year old child.

There is a sustained and ongoing campaign to discredit the evidence of the Smith family, not from Team McCann, but from a supposed truth seeker on behalf of Madeleine.  Why MUST he trash the evidence of these vital witnesses?  What is hoping to achieve?  And of course, how does this help Madeleine?

The same campaigner is now attempting to discredit the evidence of the upstairs neighbour Mrs. Fenn.  Mrs. Fenn is no longer with us, but she gave statements to the police stating that she heard a small child crying for over an hour on the evening of Tuesday 1st May.  She is of course, no longer here to defend herself, so the smearing of her character is without limits.  She was also malevolently dismissed by Kate McCann in her book, who implied that she was nosy and uncaring. Bizarrely, neither Kate or Gerry asked her what, if anything, she had seen, when their daughter was allegedly taken.  Bizarre, because Mrs Fenn was in all evening and lived directly above apartment 5A.

Returning to Smithman, when the Times revealed that an efit of Smithman existed in 2008 that had not been publicised, the McCanns claimed that they did not have the finances to publicise another suspect.  A strange excuse when you bear in mind that they were accruing millions in their Madeleine Fund and were paying a news agency £500k to keep their story on the front pages.

In October 2013, Operation Grange and BBC Crimewatch released the Smithman efits and named him as their prime suspect.  Once more, the McCanns stuck with their own prime suspect, the sighting of Jane Tanner that was dismissed by Operation Grange as an innocent tourist collecting his child from the night crèche, and still do.

It seems to me that the lady doth protest too much.  In this case, the lady being Tony Bennett who is up to his 9th (or is 19th) thread repeating for the zillionth time that Smithman is not Gerry McCann and the entire Smith family are of questionable character and are compulsive liars.  I actually left CMoMM because I was appalled at the stalking and harassment of this innocent family and of course others that 'dog with a bone' Bennett has stuck his teeth into.

I have nothing but respect for the Smith family, they have kept their dignity and have stayed out of the circus created by Kate and Gerry and have maintained an honourable silence despite all the obscenities that have been hurled in their direction by a professional stalker who has attached himself leach like to their private lives.

As I have said before, when this case comes an end, the Law must be reassessed so this type of stalking and harassment of witnesses in high profile crimes can be treated as the criminal offence it surely is.

  1. If you are looking at Bennetts trashing of the Smith family and Mrs Fenn, you are either switching off out of boredom, believing his guff, or distracted from looking at K and G and their tapas friends.
I may also be a dog with a bone but it cannot be stressed often enough Bennett can only comment on this case with the express permission of the Macs.

If they were unhappy with his actions, they would complain to the High Court and get him to comply with his solemn undertakings, given for his lifetime.

They have not and therein lies the answer.
Where are the hundreds of pages investigating the tapas 7 ?

Remember him buying a burial plot before his assets were seized and stating on national tv and on CMOMM his family would come first and he would never comment again the risk of financial punishment was too great

    1. I find what he is doing to the memory of Mrs Fenn, beyond evil. How dare he and those ghastly witches who egg him on to besmirch the memory of a woman they don't know and will never know. I feel so angry on their behalf that they are not able to reply, but I respect them because they are so far above the actions of that lowlife and because they clearly respect the judicial process!

As you say, RIP Pamela Fenn and acknowledging what a terrible turmoil she must have been in, not knowing what to do when she heard the child cry - something anyone of us can empathise with, and then to have her home covered in a big top as the circus arrived in town. These people are inhuman!

Or stumbling on a little band of demons, you kind of suspected they existed, but thought they only really existed in groups like the KKK, where they too wear masks and hide their identities in public.

Even the latest shower of fascist shites Britain First have the guts to put their faces to their abhorrent beliefs. How cowardly does that make the creatures on death dossier site JATYK2 and its' sister group CMoMM. They are all pals together now. How weird is that?

They are now posting up terminally boring diatribes from the infamous Tigerloaf and are openly singing his praises? Wtf? It wasn't so long ago they he and Bennett were sworn enemies? It was inevitable of course, they ultimately want the same things. Censorship, increased child protection laws, less parental control, and of course the right of the government to access all our online activity. The right to silence dissidents and subversives is a given. It was inevitable that two should become one.

  6. Things started getting weird on the JH site after the Crimewatch programme in the autumn of 2013 and by the summer of 2014 people were being booted out or leaving of their own accord in droves.

There are still some good posters and topics but what must casual observers think of the pages of name-calling about you, Sonia Poulton and, to a lesser extent, the new forum Maddie McCann Mystery? They would be forgiven for thinking that they had wandered onto JATYK2 by mistake.

It's very sad to see the rot setting in and even sadder that the site owners and admin blame everyone for it but themselves.

    1. Hi Rachel :) I think you are right, there definitely seemed to be a change in the agenda, Bennett became far more manic. Iirrc, he changed his focus from the detectives hired by the McCanns and Mr. Smethhurst to the Smith family after his 'promise' to leave the McCanns alone.

I questioned it from the start. And I'm glad to see he confirms this even if he is using it to give the impression I have a 'reason' to cover for the Smith family. Using his 2 degrees of separation mentality - I was blessed with an Irish mother, the Smiths are Irish = there we have it, reasons to conspire against the good people of the UK, lol.

They seem to all be caught up in dark, all consuming web of deceit methinks Rachel. They still ferociously guard their true identities - as if they have something dark and murky to be ashamed of. The fact that what they do is neither here nor there to most of us, just doesn't seem to register! It may of course be the fact that no-one cares, that bothers them the most!

Maybe the story about a family covering up sexual abuse is true - if it happened a long time ago, such things were very difficult to confront. It certainly isn't exclusive to the Irish though.

    2. 01:14. It is possible Team McCann are playing him like a fiddle, he is not very bright.

More likely though he is watching his dreams crash and die. He saw himself as Maddie's Avenger, the hero of the hour, the Defender of the Faith. The only man in Britain to challenge the authorities.

He saw fame and fortune, a slot on Newsnight and untold lucrative interviews with the media he professes to despise. He saw Richard Hall's videos flying off the shelves and invitations to give lectures to auditoriums full of devoted fans. I can't really see him involved in any debates, let's face it, his arguments could be destroyed by a one liner from Tinky-Winkey or Laa Laa.

Unfortunately for Tony, he has got to where he is (well known crank) not through any skill or talent, but because his is the voice that shouts the loudest. He wears a solicitor's suit and he speaks with a posh voice, oddly that is enough to a small number of the feeble minded to down their tools and follow him down the path of the righteous. If you do stuff in the name of God, pretty much anything is allowed. If you think of the kind of people who followed, say, Ian Paisley, you get a rough of what they are like.

But you are right 01:14, Bennett is extraordinarily useful to Team McCann.

It seems the tide is turning, we forget sometimes that the 'medja' are merely the messengers, they don't make the news, they report it and their aim is to give readers what they want to read. When the McCanns were popular with the public, anti McCann comments could have driven readers away in droves. That is why it has been so important for the McCanns to give the impression of having mass appeal and mass support.

Sadly for them, it doesn't matter how many 'likes' they buy (ludicrous numbers), it is becoming ever more clear to the authorities, that actually, hardly anyone believes them!

Where are the celebrities and tet a tets with prime ministers? Where are the possible suspects? The Polish one has gone round the block several times, and even using Bennett's 2 degrees of separation mentality, he will not turn out to be the abductor, because, there isn't one!

They were looking at a global market (for what?) - with Gerry attempting to fine wine and dine with Mr and Mrs Bush but he was only offered the sniff of a sausage with the Whitehouse pooch (who had probably only popped out to take a whizz anyway).

    3. Hello there. Apologies for the delay, I just came across this quite by accident.

I was the poster known as Clay/Seicento. Due to family circumstances I had a window of about six months (that turned into more like a year) to study the case in depth, something that I had wanted to do for some time having been suspicious of the official version of events right from the off. I learned a lot and met some interesting people; I'm marginally less confused than I was and have my own ideas about what happened, but could of course be utterly wrong. I never developed the emotional attachment to the case that some others did and apologise if I ever came across as flippant or disrespectful as a result, however I found it increasingly difficult to to take the whole thing seriously, as several large portions of the case would spectacularly fail Hemingway's "shockproof shit detector" test.

A few well known McCannWorld "faces" including TB and, IIRC, Cristobell know of my real identity, which I can assure you is spectacularly mundane. I can't foresee a return to the forums but if I did I would be much less paranoid, and would probably just be myself!

For the record, although she didn't bring a great deal new in terms of research etc. to the table I thought that "Mirage" on CMoMM was the best commentator on the case. Most of the more high profile bloggers I consider to be - quite literally - a waste of time.

    4. 00:15 The fact that the McCanns put the twins in the crèche the very next day, that is 4th May! I cannot imagine any mother or father who has just had a child abducted allowing their remaining children out of their sight. They were staying in a busy holiday resort where they effectively knew no-one outside of their holiday party. Madeleine could have been held hostage in one of the chalets, and of course there was a child predator on the loose!

Now the Cesspit are accusing the poor woman of all sorts (may their Gods forgive them) and are running a whole new campaign to discredit her memory. It does make me wonder if the police have more detailed statements from Mrs Fenn in the withheld files. It is indeed odd that Bennett's principal targets to attack, just happen to be potential witnesses for the prosecution.

  25. I think I read on some of the old forums such as the 3As that when Tony Bennett joins a forum it's the beginning of the end. He's the kiss of death and the forum descends into back-stabbing and ridiculing anyone with different or new ideas. As others have noted, he becomes obsessive - for instance his obsession with discrediting the Smiths and now Mrs Fenn. It becomes divisive because he will not give respect to opposing opinions. The hard core over there have become somewhat like the pro-McCann camp in their flaming and throwing accusations around. Really very ugly behaviour indeed. The moderation has gone to pot. I really do wonder what the agenda is over there. It is most unclear as several 'socks' ( I presume) get away with flaming and attacking without censure. Most odd.

On a practical note, the eternally dim Bennett has probably had an Oops moment. In demanding that everything that has ever been written by me be investigated, the police will probably take a look at everything that has been written by him. It's a bit like when Boy George called the police out to his house for an imagined burglary and then got done for possessing Class A drugs.

CMoMM will probably go the same way as the Death Dossier site Stop the Myths, which had to immediately 'shred' all its thousands of files on innocent McCann sceptics following the tragedy of Brenda Leyland. Mr. Filing System himself now has a massive clean up job ahead, particularly in the members lounge where the real nasty stuff is imbedded.

    ReplyDelete
  31. 15:48. Sadly yes I have seen their latest sick plan. This is not just about stopping the documentary it is about destroying people's careers and livelihoods.

It may of course backfire on them. If their allegations are to be taken seriously they will have to be made in their own names. Doubt Sky or indeed any major broadcasting corporation would take very much notice of a fecked up psycho troll called Tigerloaf.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Well, at least Jill Havern and Tony Bennett are endorsing such an alleged smear and tear-campaign under their own names. Oh wait. It was a poster called Verdi doing that, not Tony Bennett! Verdi, of course, is a totally different person from Tony Bennett, who claims he's the victim of malicious communications. Not an alleged perpetrator of such alleged action, like Verdi. Who is not Tony Bennett. Of course.
    How silly of me.

    ReplyDelete
  33. When Bennett posted in September 2014 the evidence points to M dying in 5a while her parents were boozing and M died of her parents, K and G's neglect, would this be classed as a malicious communication, or would it be Contempt of Court, as he gave solemn undertakings to the High Court in February 2013 not to write anything about the case.

I am sure TB's argument would be that he didnt actually write the article but that he merely transmitted it to a wider audience thorough the CMOMM forum.

Would Justice Tugendhat see it this way?

Would the CMOMM forum owner have any responsibility in condoning and facilitating the Contempt of Court? Deniability of Mr Bennett would hardly be a defence.

Cristobell, I believe in his complaints about you to the Essex and Kent Police he appears to be promoting the same argument in that you are allowing comments on your blog detrimental to him and that it is an offence.

So in essence, he is making and sanctioning comments on the Macs case even though he has signed for his lifetime, solemn undertakings in the High Court and according to him and the CMOMM forum, it is not an offence.
whereas you not having any restrictions imposed upon you, (as far as I am aware), are commiting an offence.

There is a certain irony here but it would take a smarter person than me to explain it, so can anybody else?

It all centres around Praia da Luz being a hot spot for swingers, apparently. Though I'm still not sure exactly where the Smith family or elderly Mrs Fenn fit in to this scenario. No doubt all will be revealed in a (very) lengthy Textusa post.

    1. 09:42 In the 1980's there was a v.funny comedy called 'Dear John', it was about a mish mash of socially dysfunctional singletons led by a frustrated spinster who's first question to new members was always 'any sexual problems?'.

I think there are certain sections of our society who have never even tiptoed near the wild side, not even to have a little peep. Ergo, what they don't know about, they have to make up using old News of the World headlines as their primary source of information.

I have led a far from sheltered life and I have mixed in all sorts of circles, but I have never encountered groups of local dignitaries dancing naked in a forest or attended many coffee mornings where I have had to make my excuses and leave clutching the remains of my underwear.

The truth is, most of us are so normal, we are boring! It's why we can point and laugh at the degenerate lives of the pitiful low life plebs that are paraded on Jeremy Kyle, and say Oooh Ahhh when a politician gets caught with his pants down.

There may indeed be a den of iniquity on every street corner in the UK and dark creatures in gimp suits prowling outside our windows looking for opportunities to climb in and defile us or run off with our children, but again, never come across any of them myself.

Whilst bored middle class doctors may have been desperate for a bit of titillation, I doubt it was of the swinging sort. They all had very young children, and when you have very young children the last thing you want is sex. You want adult conversation not hanky panky. And for heaven's sake textusa, they brought the mother in law along!

Police hunt for Madeleine McCann is scaled back after investigating 60 suspects and nearly 9,000 sightings of the missing girl at a cost of more than £10million
Scotland Yard's £10m investigation has been cut from 29 officers to four
Met has probed 60 suspects whittled down from 650 known paedophiles
Kate and Gerry McCann thank detectives but ask them to continue hunt

"We still have very definite lines to pursue which is why we are keeping a dedicated team of officers working on the case. We have given this assurance to Madeleine's parents, Kate and Gerry McCann."

"Our decision and rationale has been discussed with Mr and Mrs McCann"

    6. The Portuguese are, unfortunately, an unknown entity - do they have the will to proceed to any prosecution? How strongly do the Portuguese people feel about the Madeleine case? Just how high is it in their priorities? It always boils down to politics.

It seems to me that the Portuguese have taken a laissez faire attitude to the entire Scotland Yard investigation. I get the impression that they have co-operated in so far as they have rather bemusedly assisted Operation Grange with several aspects of their lavish stage production Turning Stones, whilst wearing their 'bin there, dun that' T-shirts and wondering how the hell the British ever had an Empire.

  56. 'Our decision and rationale has been discussed with Mr and Mrs McCann'.

Oh how the legal eagles must have pored over those words before they were released lol. It kind of tells the watching public that Gerry and Kate are being kept in the loop, something they are desperate to project, but it also manages to be the opposite of a cosy reassuring hug.

It is completely uncompromising it begins with 'Our decision', that is they discussed the rationale behind the Decision with the McCanns, but they presented it as a fait accompli, that is, the decision was made and the parents had no choice but to accept it.

You do of course have to look at this two ways. 1) How would normal parents react, 2) How would the McCanns react. Ok, so we can rule out them begging and pleading on the front page of the Sun to keep the investigation going at full capacity.

Unfortunately for Team McCann, the wording of the Met's press release is very carefully constructed, it has left little, if any, room for wild speculation or 2 +2 = 5 theories. And there are no statements within it that can be spun into the parents and their friends have been ruled out.

The McCanns cannot claim that Madeleine has been abandoned by the authorities and they still have no justifiable reason to fundraise because two police forces are actively 'looking' for her. They have very little to work with here, no wonder Clarence was called in, though as some wag on twitter pointed out, I doubt he was best pleased at the scrolling title 'McCann Investigation' rather than 'Madeleine Investigation'.
